Screen on the Green returns to Atlanta, much to the delight of many of the city’s residents. This year’s slate of movies includes Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, so you’ve got some truly kid-friendly choices on the list. The program offers families a fun chance to get outside and watch a movie under the stars, surrounded by others who want to do the same thing. It’s a unique venue and just begs for a picnic to eat beforehand as well as snacks for the movie’s duration.
Kids will love the feeling of the open space and the big sky overhead, and grown ups will enjoy seeing the classic choices of this year’s program. Fast becoming one of Atlanta’s great traditions, this series gets people outdoors and entertains them at the same time.
Make a real production of it and prepare the family’s favorite foods, or skip the work involved in that idea and pick up some take out to bring along for a pre-show supper. There will be space for all, and you can get there early to stake out a great location and let the kids run around for awhile before the movie begins. This is a great family night activity, no matter the size or composition of your group.
