The American Indian Festival asks you to step into the past and look to the future. This event celebrates the spirit of the first Americans and their cultural contributions to our heritage. Each day when the gates open, visitors will find storytelling, flute playing, and poetry. Primitive skills will be demonstrated as well. Fine arts and crafts will surround the arena, with jewelry, pottery, paintings and other Native American artifacts to view and to buy. On each day of the festival, a grand entry will delight visitors as the dancers enter the circle, preceded by a color guard. The dances will be explained and performed during each day’s dance session.
You and your kids will be fascinated by the meanings and symbolism of the dances these talented artists perform. Marvel at the intricate costumes that take long hours to create and that represent beliefs and customs that predate America as we typically perceive it.
Wonder, and learn as the dances are danced and the drums are beat. Visit another facet of American life that celebrates nature and the spirit world central to Native American beliefs. The festival is a fun chance to broaden your kids’ world view and perhaps even your own.
