 Atlanta Budget Friendly Family Fun
Spring is here! The bees are buzzing, birds chirping, and there is sidewalk chalk… EVERYWHERE. Lucky for us, the rain will wash it away. Unfortunately, the rain won’t wash away the current economic slump that we’re in or the current gas prices, so while you may think that hopscotch and chalky drawings are the only activities in your budget this summer - have we got a treat for you! Picture this, the whole family enjoying a summer picnic at Centennial Olympic Park for their Fourth Saturday Family Fun Day. There are many activities planned for children including workshops, performances, crafts and much more! Psst… Did we mention it’s free! This event begins the fourth Sunday in April (4/23) and ends on the fourth Sunday in September (9/24). Get more details at http://www.centennialpark.com/events/fsffd.html

Now while most of us are “tightening our belts”, so to speak, wouldn’t it be great if you had at least one child that was skilled in carpentry?? Patching up that hole your cousin made at the Christmas party last year wouldn’t seem so bad, right? Well, Home Depot offers free workshops for children every first Saturday of the month. While your children won’t really learn how to be carpenters, they will learn how to properly use tools and safely construct useful items. Find more information at your local Home Depot or check out http://ext.homedepot.com/community/blog/free-home-depot-kids-workshop-first-saturday-month/. This activity is recommended for children ages 5-12 and it is free, but you will still have to patch up that hole on your own.

If you have a little cash to spend, try a visit to the Starlight Six Drive-In Theatre.
