Opened in October of 1958, the Southeastern Railway Museum's mission is the development and preservation of a museum of historic railway equipment.
From it's humble beginnings in Lakewood Park, the museum has grown to occupy a 30-acre site in Duluth, a suburb of Atlanta, and is now housing approximately 90 items of historic Pulman cars and classic steam locomotives.
Children will be delighted with the opportunity to take a 10-minute ride in one of the restored cabooses of a steam or diesel locomotive and observe the various pieces of railway history such as the locomotive that made the trip to Key West, Florida on the "railroad that went to the sea."
President Warren G. Harding's car presents a unique prospect to walk thought and learn the a way of the past. The celebrated event of the 1996 Olympics was in part possible due to the business car here on display - a piece of history worth a trip.
