Founded in 1988, Hammonds House is an art museum and resource center housed in a 19th century Eastlake Victorian facility. Hammonds House Galleries is the only fine arts museum in
metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia that specializes in the arts of the African Diaspora. Their mission is to collect, preserve, interpret and increase public awareness about art.

The people who attend the Hammonds House experience the opportunity to gain a wider understanding of the contributions of diverse artists of African descent to world culture. Lectures/ symposiums, workshops, demonstrations, panel discussions, youth programming and special events educate, expose and nurture appreciation for the arts. The Resource Center houses slides, video archives, vertical files and books on artists.
