The Cyclorama is home of the world's largest painting "The Battle of Atlanta" and home of the historic Civil War locomotive "TEXAS" (hero of the "Great Train Race").

Through spectacular music, art and sound effects, history comes alive as you step back to July 22, 1864 and become part of the battle.

Consistently named one of Atlanta’s top tourist attractions, the Atlanta Cyclorama is located in historic Grant Park. The Cyclorama features a panoramic painting depicting the Battle of Atlanta, a Civil War museum and a gift shop.

Standing over five stories tall and weighing over 900 pounds, the Battle of Atlanta is presented as a three dimensional panorama with music and narration.

The painting, considered the largest in the world, was created in 1886 and restored in the 1980 ’s. After viewing a 14-minute film narrated by legendary James Earl Jones, visitors experience the diorama from a 184-seat revolving platform.

The Cyclorama offers visitors a variety of activities. The Civil War museum contains artifacts, weapons, displays, maps, and photographs.

Several touch screen computers trace the daily action of the war on all fronts during the Union Army’s advance through Georgia. Among the Civil War artifacts on display is the Texas, one of the two steam locomotives involved in the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862.
