Georgia Aquarium is also the only place in the world where participants are guaranteed to encounter the magnificent whale shark and first and only manta ray in a US aquarium. Sleepovers The Aquarium is offering two new sleepover programs, “Great Aquarium Adventure” for family groups and “Ocean Odyssey on the SS Star” for youth groups. The Great Aquarium Adventure takes families on a scavenger hunt through the Aquarium as they learn about the different habitats and animals. Ocean Odyssey takes youth groups on a cruise on the “SS Star” to the deep waters of the Atlanta Ocean and its coral reefs. Scout troops can even work toward earning badges during the night of aquatic exploration. Behind the Scenes Tour Georgia Aquarium guests can discover some of our most popular exhibits from a view that only a Behind the Scenes tour can give. A Behind the Scenes Tour allows guests to get closer to the animals and learn about what it takes to keep the world’s largest aquarium running. Camp H2O The Georgia Aquarium offers children the exciting opportunity to explore the depths of the ocean through Camp H20, a week-long day camp. The world’s largest aquarium, allows campers up-close animal encounters, behind-the-scenes tours, opportunities to meet the husbandry team, art projects, games, and so much more. Party with the Fishes The Georgia Aquarium offers parties for people of all ages. “Party with the Fishes” gives anyone the opportunity to celebrate his or her special occasion in a fun atmosphere! New exhibits at the Georgia Aquarium: Lionfish & Touch Pool Exhibit Beginning in April, the Georgia Explorer gallery will reopen with a newly renovated space to join the existing sea turtle and lobster exhibits. Within the gallery, guests will enjoy a new touch pool as well as a new lionfish viewing window. This exciting venue will lead guests through a horseshoe-shaped touch pool that guests of all ages will be able to enjoy! Lionfish are native to the sub-tropical and tropical Indo-Pacific region, but are now found off the coast of Georgia, making it an invasive species. There is increasing concern among fishery scientists that lionfish, having no natural enemies, may adversely impact native fish populations. Georgia Aquarium is working closely with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to acquire lionfish from the coast of Georgia and display them here. Geico Geckos Georgia Aquarium is excited to announce the opening of the new Geico Geckos exhibit. The display will feature Madagascar giant day geckos, one of the largest of all geckos, about a foot long each. The giant day geckos are native to Madagascar and the Indian Ocean islands. Discus Fish Exhibit In the beginning of April, Riverscout Gallery will be home to the new discus fish exhibit. These fish are a genus of three species of freshwater cichlid fishes native to the Amazon River basin. Cichlid Exhibit Thousands of new brightly colored cichlids are now on display within the Riverscout gallery! Emerald Tree Boa Exhibit At the end of April, an Emerald tree boa will be on display in the Riverscout exhibit. This vibrant green snake coils and drapes itself along the limbs of trees.
