10 Ways to Celebrate the Holidays at Fernbank Museum of Natural History

Fernbank Museum of Natural History is always a festive treat for visitors but this holiday season, there are ten more reasons to celebrate with Fernbank:

10) Do your holiday shopping in the Fernbank Museum Store, which features gifts for Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanza, as well as ornaments, home décor, clothing for all ages, toys, games, jewelry, books, and anything dinosaur you could want—all with an educational mission. You can feel good about giving these gifts!

9) Take advantage of the annual holiday sale, which offers members and volunteers an additional 10% off their existing discounts in the Museum Store from November 28-December 24, 2008.

8) Gift memberships and Fernbank gift cards allow you to give the experience of Fernbank that keeps on giving. Memberships provide free museum admission all year, plus discounts in the Museum Store and Fernbank Café, discounts and advance registration for Fernbank Summer Camps, savings on Dinosaur Birthday Parties, up to 40% off the purchase of IMAX® tickets, free admission to Family Fun Days, and more! Gift cards can be used to purchase tickets, unique items in the Museum Store, great food in the Fernbank Café, a night at Martinis & IMAX® or to register for one of Fernbank’s fantastic programs.

7) Visit Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins to experience a winter wonderland that lasts nearly all year long in the North and South Poles. This hands-on exhibition is fun for all ages as visitors explore the Arctic and Antarctic while learning about the animals that live there and the polar explorers that have endured the most extreme conditions to study the farthest reaches of the Earth.

6) Take part in a Sunday Snow Day at Fernbank Museum of Natural History. These monthly events feature the kind of activities that have always made snow days a treat. Inspired by Ends of the Earth, Sunday Snow Days feature games, activities, performances, crafts and tasty samples. Only two Sunday Snow Days remain: November 9 and 14, 2008.

5) Take comfort in the IMAX® Theatre as you journey to the coldest place on Earth in the giant-screen film Antarctica.

4) Help your visiting holiday guests and family members get out of the house and let us entertain them for a day. CityPass can be purchased at Fernbank, which gets you into Fernbank and four other Atlanta attractions at a discounted rate.

3) Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in the Fernbank Café! No holiday is complete without one.

2) Visit Fernbank for thier Annual Family Holiday Party, on Sunday, December 7, 2008, from noon to 5 p.m. Celebrate the holidays in a winter wonderland complete with crafts, storytellers, Splash the Penguin, children’s authors, and a visit from Santa, all centered around the special exhibit Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins.

1) Experience the new holiday animated IMAX® film, The Light Before Christmas, featuring the Christmas Eve story of two children who are rescued from the cold by the Candleman—a happy and wise friend who delivers holiday cheer by reading them the classic tale, "The Night Before Christmas." Magically, the children become characters in the poem and experience the ultimate holiday thrill in this animated IMAX® adventure.
