Blue Ridge Scenic Railway—all aboard for fun and adventure! Blue Ridge Mountains await you, nestled in the mountains of Georgia’s Chattahoochee National Forest. This fun-filled train ride is a 26-mile round trip through historic Murphy Junction along the Toccoa River, known for its stunning scenery.
The railroad was built more than 100 years ago, and is the only one of its kind in the state. Each trip begins at the depot in Blue Ridge and stops in McCaysville, where passengers can explore the town and the neighboring one of Copperhill, Tennessee.
Make this a group excursion, with the whole family onboard for a great day. A 3 ½ hour trip, this is the perfect way to spend a beautiful day or a weekend. You can camp and hike, mountain bike, fish and canoe. Museums and parks add to the area’s appeal, but of course the real attraction is the scenery.
Is there anything better than fresh mountain air and clear blue skies marked by mountains and trees? Breathe deep, take a walk through quaint towns, explore the shops, and have a nice family lunch before the return trip. This will be a day for the memory books, so be sure to bring the camera and capture those heartwarming smiles.
