Buckhead’s Free Shuttle Service Launches Monthly Adventure Program for Kids Atlanta, Georgia May 12, 2009 This summer an exciting new program is coming to Buckhead – the Little Bucs Adventure Shuttle. Once a month, Buckhead’s free shuttle, the buc, will be transformed into a round-trip ticket to fun for preschoolers. Destinations include family favorites such as Zoo Atlanta, Fernbank Museum of Natural History and Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta.
“This may look like just a fun series of day trips, but it’s actually much more than that,” said Denise Starling, executive director of the Buckhead Area Transportation Management Association (BATMA). “The Little Bucs Adventure Shuttle is introducing the next generation of commuters to transit in a fun and friendly way. It’s also giving Buckhead residents a reason to become more familiar with BATMA and the buc.”
The Little Bucs Adventure Shuttle kicks off on Tuesday, June 2 with a trip to Zoo Atlanta. The buc will depart at 10 a.m. and return at approximately 2 p.m. Riders should catch the buc at the “Up Front” parking lot at Lenox Square Mall (near the main entrance), where they will receive discounted parking. Zoo Atlanta is partnering with BATMA, offering discounted admission for Little Bucs Adventure Shuttle riders:
Adult: $14.99 Child 3-11: $10.99 Senior 55+: $12.99 Children 2 and under: Free
Reservations are not required, but are encouraged and can be made by emailing info@batma.org. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The Little Bucs Adventure Shuttle will travel to a different destination on the first Tuesday of the month for the remainder of 2009. The tentative schedule is:
June 2: Zoo Atlanta July 7: Fernbank Museum of Natural History August 4: Centennial Olympic Park Fountains September 1: Yellow River Game Ranch October 6: Stone Mountain Park November 3: Center for Puppetry Arts December 1: The Pink Pig
The Little Bucs Adventure Shuttle is much more than just free transportation to a fun destination. In fact, getting there will be half the fun with The Music Class leading fun sing-alongs on the way to each destination.
