Location: 1345 Piedmont Avenue NE, Atlanta
Atlanta Botanical Gardens is home to an astonishing
variety of plants and animals that delight and entertain all who visit.
Every time you visit, you
have the opportunity to
discover a new natural wonder and the chance to see colorful birds flying overhead.
And the geckos and poison dart frogs will call to you as you wander among the different
garden areas. You’ll find an amazing array of plant species, including palms, orchids,
ferns and bromeliads.
Tropical and desert environments are represented
too, with rare, threatened and endangered plants are the specialties. You’ll need
plenty of time to explore all the different areas of the gardens, and you’ll want
to visit at different times of the year to see the full spectrum of what is in bloom.
Basically, any time is a good time to visit.
That’s the mark of a great garden. Kids will love
the Children’s Garden, especially designed for them. This area combines plant education
with interactive entertainment. The limestone Green Man welcomes small visitors—a
half man, half plant mythical character considered to be Mother Nature’s counterpart.
Themed gardens will entertain and delight all ages.
Duck through the caterpillar’s mouth and enter the
Laugh section, a maze that ends in the Butterfly Pavilion. We dare you not to enjoy
this exploration of metamorphosis. The fun continues, with acres to explore and
educate your young ones—and you.
